These earrings are highly intricate and very decorative. They have been made using six peices of paper for each one. They have been dipped in a lacquer to make them waterproof. Posted in Uncategorized on December 17th, 2010 by coligami – 1 Comment

Are you looking at having a party with a difference? Then why not have a coligami party. This could either be for adults or children. Have a go at learning some of the intricate folds used in origami to make some fascinating objects. Impress your friends when you show them what you have learnt!!

The cost of the party is £10 per head and this is for 2 hours. All materials are included. The host or party girl/boy receives a present and everyone takes home what they make.  For the children’s party, I ask for a minimum of 12 people and a maximum of 14 with an age range from 8 years and up. For adults, minimum of  12  and maximum of 20. Adults also have the opportunity to buy my origami items.

If  you would like to book a party, then I do ask for a £30 deposit and this is non refundable but, this will be taken off the overall price when you pay in full.

If you would like to book , or would like further details, then please do not hesitate to contact me either by e-mail or phone.  E-mail: contact@coligami.com Tel: 07821422121.

Paper!

Posted in Uncategorized on December 16th, 2010 by coligami – 1 Comment

There are two different types of Japanese paper that I use for my products. Washi and Momi paper.

Washi paper is handmade using traditional techniques. Washi can be made from gampi bark, mitsumata branches (used in Japanese banknotes), mulberry bark, bamboo, rice, hemp or wheat.  The folding process can be very intricate with many folds used, normal paper can rip very easily. The use of these fibres makes washi much stronger than Western paper and is perfect for origami.

Momi paper has a crinkly textured surface, it is strong and durable but at the same time thin enough for multiple folding.

Both types of paper are highly decorative, some have Japanese designs and others have flecks of gold and silver in them. However, all are beautiful and I enjoy using them in my work.
